Christine Kern, CPA
Ms. Kern holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting with a Summa Cum Laude distinction from Dowling College in Oakdale, NY. She graduated as Valedictorian in May 2001.
While attending college, she interned at a mid-sized Long Island based CPA firm and began her career there as a Staff Accountant upon graduation. Within two years she earned her CPA and she has been licensed Certified Public Accountant since 2003. Within those same two years she was promoted to a Senior Accountant, which greatly increased her responsibilities. She was responsible for many audits, reviews, compilations, personal and corporate income tax preparation, payroll tax returns, and sales tax returns. She also trained the staff working with her and reviewed their work before partner review. Her client-base included an array of industries such as hotels and hospitality, municipalities, broker-dealers, not-for-profits, school districts, sports franchises, religious organizations, courier services, professional service-based companies and other small businesses.
She is currently employed with a former client in the hospitality industry and has served as their Assistant Controller for the past two years. There she performs various accounting responsibilities such as maintaining the general ledger, financial reporting, and budget monitoring.
Ms. Kern's professional affiliations include the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) through which she chaired the Young CPA Committee for several years and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). In order to maintain her CPA license she must complete the required number of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits each fiscal year, which keeps her very up to date with new laws and procedures in the accounting field.
